The Aris Allen two-tone men's Wingtip shoe is a stylish classic. The detail that has been added to the trim and saddle makes this a very smart shoe that has a timeless feel to it.
The soles of these shoes are made from a hard yet flexible leather - the Aris Allen Raw Sole. This ensures excellent contact with the floor and promises to enhance your movement across the dance floor. The leather heel also has a thick rubber layer for extra shock absorption - ideal if you are planning on dancing in them from dusk to dawn! For added support the shoes have an in-built insole as well.
A point worth mentioning....these are traditional wingtip shoes so they are constructed in a way that limits the extent to which you are able to loosen or tighten the laces. For individuals with particularly wide or narrow feet these shoes may not offer the perfect fit. Aris Allen do manufacture a style called the Captoe which are manufactured in a slightly different way and are better suited to a variety of foot widths.
These are designed for the intermediate / advanced dancer - but they're also great as a second pair for beginners... the "fastness" of the sole forces you to "find your center" immediately.
SIZING TIPS:
We find that these run true to size. So order your usual men's shoe size.
CONSTRUCTION:
These shoes are absolutely 100% handmade and in batches of just a few at a time. The cutting of the leather is done by hand, the glue is put on with a brush, and they are sewn individually. You can even see the occasional pencil mark!
SPECS:
These are great dance shoes because of the slideable sole, and the comfort you need in a shoe that's going to be on the hardwood all night.
The footbed is lined with foam so it's much more comfortable than many ordinary dress shoes. The stacked leather heel is 1 3/4 inches at the back.
The shock-absorbing 1/8" rubber tread on the bottom of the heel can easily be removed by a cobbler if you want to replace it with hard leather.
The Aris Allen Raw Sole is either sanded or varnished and after a few hours of wear they become "raw" on the bottom and perform a lot like Chrome Leather (suede) which allows you to spin and slide, and still control the floor. If you find the sole has picked up dirt from the floor and is slowing down, just shuffle your feet on the pavement once or twice to refresh it. Read more at www.swinggear.co.uk |
